After decades of rumors of a mid-engine Corvette, its arrival for the 2020 model year was a seismic event. The E-Ray model that joined the lineup for 2024 adds even more novel elements to the Corvette recipe: a hybrid powertrain, all-wheel drive, and standard all-season tires. But dont fret, because the E-Ray hybrid has the same sensational looks as the rest of the C8 lineup and it resides high on the sports cars performance hierarchy. In other words, it's made to go faster, not farther, on each gallon of gas. Thats thanks to its powertrain that combines a powerful V-8 engine with a front electric motor and a small battery for a total of 655 horsepowernearly as much as the screaming Corvette Z06 and a major upgrade over the base Corvette Stingray. We love its combination of blistering acceleration, engaging handling, and surprising daily-driver practicality, which is why we named it to our 10Best list for 2025. Its a multi-dimensional supercar with more trunk space than youd expect, and its electric-only Stealth driving mode means it can quiet down when you need it for short distances.
